Inaugural winner of the Brian Gibson Award from SEAANZ, Geoff Chang

Congratulations to Geoff. He is a student at the Western Sydney University at the Capital Markets Cooperative Research Centre where he works with industry partner, Ilion (Australia and New Zealand).

Geoff’s award-winning paper was on taking a machine learning approach to validating credit reporting data as a measure of consumer sentiment – for those more technically minded, this saw him taking a tree-structured parzen estimators to select combinations of variables to build linear and Gaussian process regression models to better explain and predict consumer expenditure on household goods.

Geoff was one of the students presenting at Inaugural PhD SME competition organised by the IPA-Deakin Research Centre, proudly supported by SEAANZ.

The Brian Gibson Award from SEAANZ includes a certificate and a $500 cash prize
